A possible new tube map?

The boyfriend (I feel I have to acknowledge that he saw it first) sent me a link to this on TimeOut's blog. This new proposal by Max Roberts has managed to feature the actual London Underground. Also I guess referencing the fact that the Overground is now circular. Very clever.

Shiny shoes

Love these! Don't think they are available in the UK, shame. They look sort of 60's space age. If you do want to buy them from the US they are available here. They are by New York shoe label - Messeca.

Time keeps ticking...

It was my birthday yesterday, another year older. I am basically using this as an excuse to put this clock up. Origin unknown. If a clock is broken, you should always set the time at ten to two, ten past ten works as well I guess. A happy clock.

Sea creature print patterns

Helmut Lang's SS13 collection features the collaborative work of Michael and Nicole Colovos from the label, their designer Pascale Gueracague and tattoo artist Thomas Hooper. As you may be able to tell, Thomas takes a lot of his inspiration from the German biologist Ernst Haeckel and his illustrations of animals an sea creatures.

Thomas Hooper is originally from Hastings and now has a tattoo studio in Brooklyn NY. There is a great interview on Post-New.com site where he talks about growing up in the UK, his inspirations and tattooing as an artform.

A Houston time capsule

This house is completely 70's, it also seems to be immaculately kept and covered in foil wallpaper. A commenter on this site sums it up by saying "I love it and am terrified at the same time"

Have a look at the rest of the place. The parquet style linoleum and wallpapered ceilings are pretty scary. I almost quite love the green bedroom!

Flasks for ladies

Spotted this on a blog favourite of mine today, love it! A bangle that looks great, and can be filled with a drink of your choice! Although quite bulky, perhaps would help with arm toning at the same time?! especially if your waving your hands around a lot of the dancefloor. It's available from here.

Pool Party

I recently came across the work of Argentine artist Leandro Erlich. His swimming pool exhibit is currently showing at MoMA in New York. He also created the interactive Bâtiment. A life sized front of a house, set on the floor with a huge upright mirror, to give the illusion of people climbing on an actual building.

3D Hand drawn Gifs

I am inspired by these illustrated gifs by Swedish artist Dain Fagerholm. Discovered via this site.

Taking gifs to a whole new level.

By the way, geek fact, gif is actually pronounced Jif. Not by me though, it just makes me think of cleaning products. Gil sans is another one that annoys me. I prefer to call it Jill, although that too is wrong.

Pattern to Pattern Wallpaper

Specially designed wallpaper that allows you to go from one design to the next on the same wall and blending together. My parents have always moved into very old houses that have needed lots of work. One of the things they loved is finding all the different wallpapers from different generations of households. This effect reminds me of that.

The wallpaper is designed by Lene Toni Kjeld, and is available from here. Check out the different patterns and how they merge.

High Street Goth!

So, whilst preparing myself for the New Years party, of which I took no decent pictures. I realised how easy it is to do the goth look these days! Back at school if you dared to wear black nail varnish you were deemed a goth or a worse a greebo straight away!

Now days, you just have to pop into your local River Island and you're done! How the times have changed. Anyway to demonstrate this, I have created the below collage!

Roughly from right to left, top to bottom:

Zara jump suit
Una boots, Miista
Crystal Head vodka

Sad time for christmas trees

Christmas is almost over, and therefore the sad time of year when the briefly loved Christmas tree, gets dumped in the street and left to rot. This article here on the Guardian is encouraging people to recycle them, apparently it's not that hard, so do it!

Nobody wants to see poor dumped Christmas trees everywhere they go!

from here
On a happier note, check out this Christmas tree from 1955. Looks like it was hard to decorate!
