Collage + Illustration

Want to add some illustration to my collage but am a scaredy cat at the mo. Like the surreal shapes from this artist, Geraldine Georges.

Betty Blythe Deals

I was asked to create a flyer for what looks like a lovely Cafe in the Shepherds Bush/ Hammersmith part of town. I have yet to visit it due to it's west London postcode. I know its bad, west London seems so far away at times! It looks like its worth checking out though if you are in the area, see website for details: bettyblythe.co.uk

They wanted the flyer in the style of artist Mucha and here is what I came up with. I enjoyed researching the guy and particularly liked the old photographs of his models.

Going mad with scissors!

I have been getting into a bit of collage at  home, pulling out all my old magazines and ripping pages out, then attacking with scissors. I plan to purchase this book as well for a bit of inspiration.

I found these images via this blog, they are from magazine Dazed and Confused.

Random Pic(s) No 2

Pictures from the Shacklewell Arms in Dalston, a great place if you fancy a late night dance in Dalston and have a liking for dirty East End pubs. This one has been recently taken over but has managed to retain its charm. No thats not the word, edge perhaps. They have tidied up the toilets a little which was much needed as its not fun wading through puddles of who knows what to get there. Its worth checking out just for the murals in the smoking area which could be considered a little disturbing to some.

I like the colours of some of the photos:

Animated gifs... again!

Lots more kicking about in cyberland, I have noticed them being used in fashion marketing emails as well. These ones are from here where you can find loads more.

Lover the Label

Just discovered this Australian label Lover, and its almost like they designing for for me! I have an obsession with lace, in particular black lace. I also have a love of wide high waisted trousers and 70's style jeans. I discovered them via a photo I found on Jak and Jil.

There is no way I could get away with wearing it this way, not without looking like a prostitute!
You can check out all of their collections here.

Random Pic No 1

From the South Bank a few weeks ago. I like the bright colours against the concrete and grey London sky.

Paul Smith V Topshop

Catwalk version by Paul Smith. Topshop playsuit, now mine, purchased last week after a bad week at work. Haven't worn it yet, but went out to a club in Dalston on Saturday night and two other girls were wearing it... still they did look very nice.I spoke to one of the girls, we had both used the same excuse to buy it. That it was classic and we could wear it for years. Girls eh?!

Go to Wiltons Music Hall!

Finally went here last night for a few drinks. Its tucked away in a quiet part of town hidden behind a few council estates. I didn't get to see the main hall, we went to the bar which is open any day of the week. I will definitely be going back for a proper event. Perhaps Barbara Windsor opening the tea and cakes afternoon!

There are some nice pictures on this blog, which show the beautiful decaying details of the place.

They desperately need funding to help save the place as they lost out on a bid from the Heritage Lottery trust. So go and show your support! www.wiltons.org.uk

New York Subway

Just found these on the BBC website, some great pictures of the New York subway by Bruce Davidson. His 1986 book Subway has been reprinted for a new audience. You can read the article here.

Gabriel by Joe Goddard

It would be nice if I could get this projected on all my walls at home whilst spinning around to the track with friends.

Museum of Everything Selfridges Takeover

I have yet to check out to the Museum of Everything, which is currently set up in Selfridges windows, store and website. I am appreciating the Clements Ribeiro tops and skirts with prints by artists. Particularly the lips (by Tom Wagener) which are a bit like my background pattern I made on Twitter, and the Ramon Avalos ones.

Available for rich people to buy here.

Abigail Ahern, house and dog

I walk past this house all the time and always stare in and wonder, 'who lives in a house like that?'
I even googled the address in case anything came up (loser!)

Anyway, today bored at lunch, I went on a favourite site of mine, The Selby. First of all I thought, ahhh she has a Deka. (my Mum has a welsh terrier called Deka) they are brilliant dogs (see below) and then secondly, ah shit no way!... I realised it was the house I always walk past.... what a cool woman. What a house, what a bitch. Ha.

I went on to discover her website and her blog. Love it. Will be keeping an eye on that. Lots of lovely images and beautiful things I can't afford to buy.

Check out the rest of her house here, its well worth it.

All for the Mountain

As a digital designer for fashion retail, its good to check out what's out there, and this might be one of my favourite sites ever. Its partly due to my love of jewellery, my favourite collection on the site being the 'Sacred Mountain' one. I love the shoulder pads necklace and the sacred mystic mountain ring.

I also love the fact there are so many pages on this site but you want to look at them all. They are so playful and original. Their use of colour, animation and collage is brilliant. It manages to be cool without being wanky.

I also love hand drawn things on the internet, it gives it a personal, unique and friendly touch.

The main negative? trying to find the price of anything and then working out how to purchase it, plus if you want to go back and find a product,  not so easy.

Last Weekend's Shenanigans

Franks bar in Peckham and hula hooping, amongst other things!
It was a busy weekend, some of which involved this bar on a roof of  a multi-story car park in Peckham. Its amazing, you can see right over London, the cocktails are cheap and the music was perfect. Plus there are sculptures on the top levels for you to find and explore. Our favourites being the inflating, deflating, music playing rats. Once the bar shut, we rushed safely back to the other side of the river (only joking) and danced and hula hooped back at ours until we ran out of energy.

You can see more about the rats and their other installations here.

Skull Overload?

The whole skull thing has been done to death (no pun intended) although I wouldn't say no to one of these little beauties by Alexander McQueen, and they aint that expensive...

My boyfriend just joked that he bought me these leggings but they are actually pretty fookin cool arnt they, with the matching sandals?!

I googled the artist who designed the print. Misake Kawai. Her website is fantastic. She looks like she has a fun life.
