H&M's Conscious range
How 'conscious' it actually is I have no idea, and I'm not sure what the Vanessa Paradis link is, is she just the model or did she have a hand in the design or concept, I don't know.

Easter comes early...
...on this blog. I am so sick of these eggs! I wanted to try and create a repeatable pattern, which is actually harder than it looks. I painted them rather badly, they looked really childish. After messing around with them in Photoshop, they do look a bit better.
Taxidermy of the artistic kind
I watched a fascinating program last night on BBC4 about Polly Morgan, an artist who works in East London. She uses taxidermy to create hauntingly beautiful pieces of art. Whilst taxidermy has become popular in recent times, seen in most recently refurbished pubs, Polly has taken it to the next level, putting them into surreal still life scenes. She makes a point of using only animals that have died of natural causes, and often gets sent dead pets and wildlife through the post.
The program is well worth a watch. It's interesting how it effects her mentally, disecting animals day in day out, finding she looks at her dogs in different ways sometimes, knowing whats under the skin. She also mentions that some of the animals appear in her dreams, sometimes coming to life whilst she is working on them. She seems like quite a serious person who lives and breaths what she does, I think the photo below if ger is quite a good reflection of her character if the program is anything to go by.

Psychedelic Purson
Bit gutted about missing out on seeing the band Purson on Tuesday at Madame JoJo's.
Loving the 70's vibe, prog rock style, psychedelic video, hair, outfit, eye rings etc. I heard a quote the other day that people are obsessed with the decade before them. Sometimes I feel like that about the 70's!

Have you checked out & Other Stories yet?
I haven't visited the shop yet, but I have already made an online purchase. & Other Stories is a new offering from the H&M empire. It's a bit like Cos, but with more of a youthful edge and less of a price tag. Judging by the pictures, the shop looks pretty cool as well, although I may leave it a few weeks to check out just to make sure I don't spend anymore money this month.
Here are some bits that caught my eye:

Martine Ali - Jewellery
Another New York jewellery designer. Martine Ali's collection includes cicada rings, holographic eyes and floral collars. She recently designed the jewellery for the Fall 2013 DKNY show. Actually it's her blog I found the train gif image in below.

Another time capsule!
If anyone knows of any others of this standard, please let me know!
This is the home of Ada and Leon Kagen, who have lived in this house for 57 years in a leafy suburb of Melbourne, Australia.
Their son, whilst studying a bulding diploma, was amazed to find a slide of the family house pop up whilst in an engineering lecture at college. It was apparently one of the first houses in this area to use concrete slabs in it's construction. The house has remained pretty much the same since the 50's and is in brilliant condition - including a notice board in the then teenage boys bedroom. Read more about the family and the house and how it came to be on a design blog here.
