Moth obsession meets pattern obsession

Whilst hanging out in the French Chateux on holiday I noticed these pretty moths chilling on the chandeliers. My boyfriend can't stand moths and hate the way they fly around no real purpose, and for another good reason, they keep eating his fancy jumpers!

The prettier french moths inspired these patterns below.

Oh and I updated my twitter background as well!

Let's marble everything!

Cushions, blinds, wallpaper, lampshades, chairs and more - all found on Kerrie Brown's site here.
I have a feeling marbling is going to be everywhere next season.

Pattern calendar gifs

I haven't blogged about animated gifs, or patterns in, well at least a week or so - so to rectify this - I have a post that includes both very nicely. This is from the site Pattern Matters, which is a graphic design project that aims to look at pattern in very possible angle.

PRINT PARTY MADNESS

A flyer (or rather invite) I created for the Boyfriends big 30. The theme is print - so everyone has to wear their most outrageously bright and printed clothing - preferably all at once!

I wish all my graphic design work was THIS MUCH FUN!!

Another drippy eye...

I made, I have also used it as my twitter background (why don't you follow me?) or on tumblr - I am making an online scrapbook of patterns. Just for fun!

House of Hackney shop opening

We went to the opening of House of Hackney's first 3 level store on Old Street. It looked stunning! This is a picture I took of the shop window featuring their Palmeral range, complete with a model in the matching dress. There is a great write up of the store on Susie Bubbles blog here.

There are also lip print ones, but this one is by far my favourite.

Eating off Human Tissue

Fancy that?

Emily Evans is a Medical Illustrator from London. Histology is the study of the microscopic anatomy of cells and tissues. Emily created 8 different plates, that show the patterns of close up tissues including bowels, testicles, bone. The patterns are quite pretty really - what do you think? Available from here.

Emily also runs a site called AnatomyUK which promotes creative ideas that have been inspired by anatomy. View the site here.

Easter comes early...

...on this blog. I am so sick of these eggs! I wanted to try and create a repeatable pattern, which is actually harder than it looks. I painted them rather badly, they looked really childish. After messing around with them in Photoshop, they do look a bit better.

Sea creature print patterns

Helmut Lang's SS13 collection features the collaborative work of Michael and Nicole Colovos from the label, their designer Pascale Gueracague and tattoo artist Thomas Hooper. As you may be able to tell, Thomas takes a lot of his inspiration from the German biologist Ernst Haeckel and his illustrations of animals an sea creatures.

Thomas Hooper is originally from Hastings and now has a tattoo studio in Brooklyn NY. There is a great interview on Post-New.com site where he talks about growing up in the UK, his inspirations and tattooing as an artform.

Pattern to Pattern Wallpaper

Specially designed wallpaper that allows you to go from one design to the next on the same wall and blending together. My parents have always moved into very old houses that have needed lots of work. One of the things they loved is finding all the different wallpapers from different generations of households. This effect reminds me of that.

The wallpaper is designed by Lene Toni Kjeld, and is available from here. Check out the different patterns and how they merge.

A pretty gif

I can't resist turning something into a gif, a bit too pretty for my liking, but I thought worthy of a blog post. Art nouveau styley.

DIY Christmas decorations

These look like a great DIY project for decorating the tree this year, if skint after all the Christmas shopping! Although, I'm thinking that perhaps they are much harder than they look. These were created by Jasen Melnick, a graphic designer from the U.S who made these to give as presents last Xmas. Check out his Behance profile here.

Proenza Schouler SS13

As you may know, I have a love of pattern, and love the idea of doing my own digital prints. I found Proenza Schouler's collection for next summer very inspiring. I loved the abstract mash up up pattern and textures. View the whole lot on Style.com.

A favourite of mine: Julie Verhoeven

Illustrator/ painter/ textile designer, whatever she is, Julie Verhoeven is a definite favourite of mine. Oh how I would be able to draw like her. I have some old pictures I pulled out of the Independent Magazine many moons ago, stuck behind my computer. You can tell they are old because the paper has gone that lovely old colour.

I think I had them stuck up at uni, and a few houses after that!
